The Philippou Brothers recently provided an update on the progress of their Talk To Me sequel as well as their documentary about deathmatch wrestling. Danny and Michael Philippou directed the 2022 A24 horror hit, and they spoke with Bloody Disgusting about the status of the announced sequel and more.
“We have two versions of the script for Talk to Me 2 that are focusing on two different sets of characters that are in two different places,” the brothers explained. “I’m equally excited about both. There’s one scene in one of them that I think will be one of the best things I ever shoot.”
They continued, “I think it’s so horrific. I’m like this is insane and I’ve already started talking to people. I’m like, how can we pull this off practically? So those conversations are happening, but it’s about stepping away from the world and then coming back into it super reinvigorated. So that’s why we didn’t do that next.”
The brothers also said that their documentary about deathmatch wrestling is “probably about 60-70 percent” finished. It was noted, “I’m writing another horror movie at the moment, which I adore so much. And it feels like it’s huge. So there’s that. And then I think would be Talk to Me 2.”
The brothers’ latest film, Bring Her Back, arrives in theaters on May 30th.
