Dominik Mysterio overcame stiff challenges posed by Rusev and Penta at Saturday Night’s Main Event to retain his WWE Intercontinental Championship.

Rusev dominated the match initially, unleashing his fury on Dominik Mysterio. However, the latter turned the tide when he sent the former AEW star into the ring post. This was followed by Penta taking out Rusev with a dive before Dominik did the same to Cero Miedo.

After Penta and Dominik traded blows inside the ring, Rusev returned to take out Cero Miedo and then continued to assault “Dirty” Dom. He locked in the Accolade on Dom, but Penta managed to break the lock.

This led to Rusev and Penta slugging it out in the ring. Later, Dominik brought a steel chair into the ring and tossed it to Rusev. However, the defending champion forgot that there are no disqualifications in a Triple Threat Match. Thus, Rusev was about to use the chair to his advantage. Penta then took out Mysterio with a Mexican Destroyer and then countered Rusev’s Machka Kick with a Penta Driver. However, the Bulgarian Brute kicked out.

Later in the match, Rusev had Penta in the Accolade, but as Cero Miedo was about to tap out, Dominik rang the bell with the hammer to distract everyone. An incensed Rusev later went after “Dirty” Dom, but the latter countered by sending the former Miro into the steel steps. He then tried to use the bell hammer on Penta, who snatched it from his hands and then accidentally hit Rusev with it. Dominik then sent Penta crashing into the ring post before executing a Five-Star Frog Splash on Rusev to retain his gold.
