Jushin Thunder Liger came out of retirement at this weekend’s WrestleCade at the Benton Convention Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Liger faced Joey Janela in a four minute match, reports Fightful.
Liger last wrestled in January of 2020 at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 14 and teamed with Naoki Sano to face Dragon Lee and Hiromu Takahashi in what was his final match prior to his bout with Janela.
Liger is 61 years old. It remains to be seen if he plans to wrestle again or if the brief clash with Janela will be his final match.
Liger was inducted into the RevPro Hall of Fame earlier this year. He also was inducted to the WWE Hall of Fame back in 2020.
He remains one of the most accomplished Japanese wrestling stars, having held countless titles including the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship which he has held 11 times, along with the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship, the GHC Junior Heavyweight Championship, and even the WCW Light Heavyweight Championship.
