Joe Hendry became a major star in wrestling through his time in TNA, and he recently reflected on his run there and why he had to leave and join WWE. Hendry was with TNA from 2018 through 2019, and again from 2022 until he joined WWE last year. During that letter run, he shot to stardom as his theme song became a legitimate musical hit. He captured the TNA World Championship after a lengthy chase in January of last year, holding it until NXT Battleground in May.

Hendry spoke with Bully Ray on Busted Open After Dark about his TNA run and his decision to go to WWE. You can see the highlights below (per Fightful):

On His TNA Run:

“I will say this: I gave being TNA World Champion everything I — I gave everything to that company that I absolutely had.”

On Wanting to Come to WWE and Leaving TNA:

“I came to WWE because this was the dream… This is genuinely what it was is I felt like I had achieved the goal at TNA and I felt like in order for me to grow, it was time. It was time. It wasn’t gonna be in a year. If I can say I feel I’ve done one thing well, it’s knowing when it’s time and it was finally time for me to make the move because I felt like I’d acquired enough skills to be successful here and now I’m just acquiring more skills at NXT. It was the right time to go.”
