As previously reported, WWE Superstar Bron Breakker has been sidelined due to a hernia injury, which required him to undergo surgery last week. Breakker had reportedly been dealing with the issue for a while, but it’s said the hernia was aggravated after flipping the announce table on WWE Raw last week. Dave Meltzer reported additional details on Breakker’s injury during today’s edition of Wrestling Observer Radio.

According to Meltzer, the hernia had been an existing issue for Breakker for a while, but things grew worse after WWE Raw, requiring Breakker to undergo emergency surgery. Meltzer stated, “He has had this issue for a while… He had been working with it, and then it got bad. And then, the day it got bad, he needed emergency surgery, which was, you know, just a couple days ago. So that’s actually what happened. I don’t think it was deadlifting, I’m not exactly sure what it was.”

While reports indicated that Breakker flipping the announce table on Monday Night Raw caused the flare-up, Meltzer speculated that it may not have been the case. He continued, “I mean, it may have been — it was probably nothing because like, I was essentially told, ‘If you get up, and you feel really sick, and you have a fever, come in immediately. Don’t be like [Kenny] Omega.’ [Omega] was one of the ones who, I don’t think he knew he had it, and he’s a tough guy, wanted to make his bookings, similar to Terry Funk, and you remember, he was on like TV the day before.” Omega previously suffered an abdominal hernia back in 2021.

Bron Breakker Has No Timetable Yet for His In-Ring Return

After the flare-up, Breakker went in for his emergency surgery. Meltzer noted that Breakker doesn’t have a timetable for his in-ring return, but he’s expected to eventually recover. Meltzer explained, “I think what happened with Bron Breakker was that he needed emergency surgery. It couldn’t wait, had the flare-up, I guess, in the last couple of days. ” He added on Breakker’s return status, “There’s no timetable for a return. It’s usually not like — they’re talking about career-ending, I think that’s kind of an exaggeration. He’ll come back. It could take a couple of months, you know, before he comes back, depending on a lot of different things.”

Meltzer also reinforced that Breakker’s existing hernia injury is not the reason why Breakker was eliminated early in the Royal Rumble. He stated on the topic, “That had nothing to do with the Royal Rumble being out, people are like, ‘Oh that’s why they did the thing at the Rumble’ – it had nothing to do with the Rumble, even though yeah, he probably had it long before that. It had nothing to do with any bookings, anything that they were doing. It was just like he got checked out and had to have emergency surgery. So that’s the basic story on that.”

Based on Meltzer’s research on the ailment, he estimated that Bron Breakker could be out of action as long as 12 weeks, or up to six months “at worst,” stating, “He’ll be out for a while. As far as how long, no one’s given me a timetable. I looked up some stuff, and it could be 12 weeks. It could be six months at worst, probably not that long, but again, I don’t know all the details.”

Meltzer also explained that Breakker’s surgery was a “major operation” that’s probably worse than the Laparoscopic hernia surgery, which has about a two-month recovery time.
