Former MMA fighter and UFC legend Georges St-Pierre at one point wanted to be a WWE Superstar, as he revealed during a recent interview on the Danny Jones Podcast. The UFC legend and Hall of Famer explained that he wanted to be a WWE wrestler when he was growing up, as UFC and MMA didn’t exist yet.
However, St-Pierre thought he was too small to make it as a wrestler. And his career took him down a different path. St-Pierre explained (via Fightful), “Growing up, I wanted to become a WWE wrestler. MMA did not exist. I wanted, but I’m too small. I’m not big enough. At the time, they were big. All the wrestlers were minimum 200, maybe 30 pounds and plus, yeah, now it changes.”
St-Pierre noted that wrestling now showcases smaller, faster, and more athletic talents. He continued, “Now they want sometime more athletic guys, maybe smaller. But before, they were all big guys. Heavy, big guys. Like, it was, yeah, I didn’t have the you know, the physique. I could have maybe got on steroids and get there, but I didn’t want to, I didn’t want to take the risk, you know?”
Georges St-Pierre had a long and illustrious career in UFC and MMA, going 26–2 overall and winning the UFC Welterweight and Middleweight Titles. He last fought at UFC 217 in November 2017, beating Michael “The Count” Bisping to win the UFC Middleweight Title. He later announced his retirement from the sport of MMA in 2019.
