Sheamus has shared details about the shoulder injury that sidelined him, explaining the timeline and recovery process during an appearance on OTB Football. He said the issue began around May or June last year during a match at Clash in Paris against Rusev.
Sheamus initially believed he had torn his shoulder during that bout. He continued to compete after receiving treatment that provided temporary relief, allowing him to remain active for several months. His last match was on November 17 on WWE RAW in a six-man tag match with John Cena and Rey Mysterio. They faced The Judgment Day members Dominik Mysterio, Finn Bálor, and JD McDonagh.
He underwent shoulder surgery on December 30 and has been in recovery since then. Sheamus described the recovery process as “difficult” as he prepares for an in-ring return (via Fightful).
“Yeah, this one has been difficult. It kind of came out of nowhere. I started noticing my shoulder around May-June at Clash in Paris against Rusev. It was bothering me, and I thought I tore it. I got a couple of shots in there, and it felt good for a little while, but ultimately it was just a matter of time before it stopped moving on me. I tried to push through it to the point where I couldn’t move my arms. I had surgery on December 30. Ever since then, I’ve been rehabbing. I’m dying to get back in the ring and back to work. I have cabin fever,” he said.
Outside of wrestling, Sheamus recently appeared at the 2026 NFL Draft, where he announced the draft pick for the Tennessee Titans.
