WWE asked a heavily pushed star to take a hefty pay cut, according to a new report. PWInsider’s Mike Johnson posted a column discussing the New Day’s exit from the company over the weekend, and how it is indicative of the ways WWE has changed under TKO.

In the piece, Johnson notes that the site was told of a “pretty majorly pushed talent” who was asked on Friday, the day before the New Day’s exit, to take a 50% pay cut. The talent allegedly agreed to do so.

As an important caveat, Johnson did note that they have not confirmed this information as of yet. He does note the timing of being told this just a day before Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods exited the company, reportedly due to the fact that they were asked to take a pay cut and declined to do so. Kingston and Woods’ exit has been reported as a “mutual agreement” between the two and WWE. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful has independently reported that “a number of people” were asked to take cuts, though it’s not clear if these included the star Johnson reported on or if they were all asked to take similar-sized cuts.

In total, 28 members of the WWE roster, either main roster or developmental, have exited in the past couple of weeks. In addition to the New Day, the departures have included Tonga Loa, JC Mateo, Aleister Black, Zelina Vega, Kairi Sane, all members of the Wyatt Sicks, the Motor City Machine Guns, Santos Escobar, Zoey Stark, Alba Fyre, Apollo Crews, Andre Chase, Dante Chen, Tyra Mae Steele, Tyriek Igwe, Tyson Dupont, Luca Crusifino, Malik Blade, Trill London, Sirena Linton, and Chris Island.
