Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk has been away from weekly programming since the RAW after WrestleMania 42. Punk was dethroned as World Heavyweight Champion by Roman Reigns in an iconic Night Two main event on April 19.
Amid his absence, rumors have been circulating that CM Punk is upset with WWE and on the outs with WWE/TKO management. Though the rumors have stemmed from unverified sources on social media, some fans have been wondering if that’s indeed the case.
A new report from Mike Johnson of PWInsider has debunked the unsubstantiated claims. Earlier today, Johnson reported that he spoke to a trusted WWE source, who debunked the rumor, saying that “it has as much truth to it as the stories that claimed Saudi Arabia bought us [WWE] years ago.”
While the source wasn’t aware of the reason behind CM Punk’s ongoing absence from WWE television, it noted that new merchandise for The Best in the World is currently under production and that Punk’s appearances for this summer have been locked in.
During his most recent appearance on Monday Night RAW, Punk teased going after Cody Rhodes’ Undisputed WWE Championship. Only time will tell if he goes after The American Nightmare upon his return to television.
