Ciocco’s TNA Impact Review 6.11.26

Impact Zone! It’s Thursday Night, and that means it is time for a new episode of TNA’s weekly delight! Tonight’s episode comes to us from the Cobank Arena in Denver, Colorado in what was a weekend of taping sessions. Initially, it was supposed to take place earlier in the week, but apparently, the arena wasn’t ready and they had to preempt the tapings.

For more on tonight’s card, let’s get into the Headlines!

  • The Cleanse Spins the Block! Eric Young won a Battle Royale to earn himself a World Heavyweight Title shot, and after weeks of building to it, he cashes in that opportunity when he looks to become a Three-Time Champion at the expense of the current World Champion Mike Santana.
  • KC and the Order-4 Band! As a result of pinning Mustafa Ali two weeks ago in the Men’s Champions versus TNA All-Stars match, KC Navarro has earned himself a shot at Ali’s International Title, but can he overcome Ali and his group?
  • Elegance, Undead! After defeating Tessa Blanchard and her entourage, the Undead Realm girls in Rosemary, Allie, and Mara Sade have turned their attention to haunting the Elegance Brand, and tonight, they face Heather, Ash, and M by Elegance in the ring.
  • System Business! After making enemies out of both Leon Slater and the recently debuted Fabian Aichner, Eddie Edwards and X-Division Champion Cedric Alexander will represent the System as they will do battle in a tag match. All of this and, of course, so much more in store for us tonight!
  • So, how is everyone doing on this Thursday evening? After roughly two weeks of nothing but sunshine and high grass, the storms are finally starting to roll through, to the point that I woke up this morning and realized that the power went out and my alarm clock was flashing it was 2:00AM lol. Oh, and the Phillies still can’t get out of their own way, because even though they did win the series in Toronto, it would have been a sweep had they not blown Tuesday’s game.

But enough about me and enough about you, let’s get ready to Brace for Impact!

    Pride

Tonight, Impact is LIVE (to tape) from Denver, Colorado! As is tradition, Tom Hannifan and Matt Rehwoldt will call the action!

Video package opens the show. We see Young and his quest to win the World Title, Ali and his contempt for that “pink haired freak” Navarro, and the Wicked Garden main event last week.

I’m Ready for You AKA The opening title sequence! The set-up looks good inside the arena!

We’re starting off hot with the World Title match!

TNA World Heavyweight Title Match: Mike Santana (C) vs. Eric Young

We get the tale of the tape during Santana’s entrance. Mackenzie Mitchell with the in-ring introductions for this one.

The bell rings, as Santana has his back to Young. Eric complains to the ref, but Santana is taking his time here. That was, until he charges out of the corner and kicks Eric in the face. A corner smash, a front Angle Slam, and a leg drop gets the Champion a two. CANNONBALL from Santana, and a running powerbomb gets him a two.

Young rolls to the outside, and he trips up Santana as he looks to fly. Joke is on Young, though, because Santana smacks Young with a lariat. Both men trade chops and slaps around the ring side area. Young throws Santana into the ring steps and then rams him into the ring apron. Young puts the Champion on the apron and hits a neck breaker.

ERIC SUCKS chants, as Young breaks the count and continues the attack on Santana’s neck. He returns Santana to the ring for real, and he hits the Youngblood Neck breaker for a two. Young grabs the head of Santana and he torques it a couple of times before hitting a knee drop. The follow-up pin gets him a two. Santana looks to fight back, but Young catches Santana with a spinning neck breaker.

Young to the top rope, but Santana headbutts him in the balls. Santana to the top, but Young bites Mike and throws him from the top. Elbow Drop from Eric, but Mike kicks out at two. Young threatens to punch the ref because he is a MADMAN, Santana with some shots to the gut, but Young fights back. Young ends up on the apron, where he drags Santana to. Both men trade strikes, but Young ends up back in the ring where he hits ANOTHER neck breaker, this one over the top rope.

Young returns Santana to the ring and he pins Santana for another two. AGAIN, Young threatens to hit the ref, but he walks away and continues his assault of Santana instead. Santana with an Irish Whip, Young does the Ric Flair corner spot and heads to the top rope, but Santana meets him up top and hits the Superplex!

Both men get to their feet, Santana with strikes, looking Rolling Buck Fifty, no, but he hits a CUTTER! He gets the Rolling Buck Fifty proper, but Young escapes at two. Santana sits Young on the top rope just to throw him down to the mat. Santana into the pin for a two. Santana points at his elbow, Spin the Block, but Young moves, and Santana almost hits the ref. Young has no problem hitting the ref, though, and Santana hits Spin the Block, but there is no ref to count it!

Santana picks up Young, but Eric kicks him in the balls. Eric heads to the outside, he grabs the World Title, and he smashes Santana in the face with it! Young with the Piledriver, the ref has woken up, but Santana gets his hand on the bottom rope! Young sets up the title belt in the middle of the ring, but Ricky Sosa is here! He dances on the ramp, which distracts Young and allows Santana to hit the Victory Roll for the win!
    WINNER: Mike Santana (Still Champion)
    TIME: 12:30
THOUGHTS: Not a bad match. Young had a game plan, which was to target the bad neck of Santana, which was good for the psychology of the match. But the return of Sosa threw his gameplan off and resulted in a title retention for the Champion.
    RATING: ***1/2

Post-match, Young contemplates attacking Santana, but he opts to run up the ramp in pursuit of Sosa. Carlos Silva presents Santana with his title belt, but Nic Nemeth is here with his trophy! He feigns calling his shot, but instead he picks up Santana and he grabs a mic. He could pick the bones right now and call his shot. But he is a man of his word, and he will look the Champion in the eye, man-to-man, and he will call his shot at Slammiversary. No tricks, no cheap stuff, Nic Nemeth and Mike Santana for the World Title at Slammiversary!

DO IT NOW chants from the fans, as both men play tug-of-war over the title, which Santana eventually wins. Nemeth wants to shake hands, but Santana is skeptical but eventually shakes his hand.

Gia Miller is in the back with Mustafa Ali and Order-4. Ali doesn’t want to talk about losing to Navarro, but he wants to talk about what Nemeth just did. What a noble thing to do in calling your shot. Honorable, but stupid. Now, KC, he lost his uncle earlier this week, and KC is a fighter. He will fight and he will claw to the bitter end, but he will lose, just like his uncle did. So, on behalf of Order-4, he wants to extend his condolences for Navarro’s loss. Both of them.

Tom runs down the rest of tonight’s card. Mr. Elegance will take on Elijah, next!

    BREAK IN PROGRESS!

On August 23rd, Lockdown is coming to Chicago!

We see the events of last week, where AJ Francis revealed that he owned everything about Elijah before he punched him in the ear.

To the here and the now, and the Personal Concierge wants our attention, PLEASE! He said PLEASE! He is the often imitated but the original Concierge, and we are bearing witness to a God, a man with 1% body fat, which is the opposite of all you fat pigs, Mr. Elegance!

Elijah is here now, as he plays his own guitar to the ring. In case you weren’t aware, that Suge Knight, No Skill Uncle Phil wants to take my voice and silence me. So, he has just one question for us all tonight; WHO WANTS TO WALK WITH ELIJAH? Elijah plays the Seven Nation Army riff while the fans chant WALK WITH ELIJAH. A nerd runs down the ramp and hands Elijah paperwork, and he says he has been served again.

    Mr. Elegance vs. Elijah

The bell rings while Elijah is taking the paperwork, and Mr. Elegance rolls him up and steals it!
    WINNER: Matt Riddle’s Twin Brother
    TIME: Seven seconds
    THOUGHTS: What the actual crap?
    RATING: Shit

Francis is here post-match, and he says Elijah should cease and desist because he owns everything about him. Francis heads into the ring only for Elijah to clothesline him right out of the ring, and the brawl is on!

Mr. Elegance is back, as he swims to the middle of the ring, but Lei Ying Lee is here! My future ex-wife lays into Mr. Elegance and hits a springboard (kind of) corner neck breaker. Xia Brookside is here to attack! Brookside looking for Darkside, but Lee counters with the Warrior’s Way! She heads to the top rope, but Brookside makes her way up the ramp!

The Injury report is now brought to us by Zone*ify!

  • The Hardy’s are out of action after the effects suffered in the Wicked Garden match.
  • Trey Miguel is making progress in his recovery, and he is expected to be cleared within 6-8 weeks.
  • After recovering from an attack backstage a month ago, Moose has been cleared for competition.
  • Tom informs us that the tag team match between Slater-Aichner and the System is up next after the break!

    BREAK IN PROGRESS!

We see KC Navarro getting ready for the main event match tonight. Nic Nemeth is here, and he hypes up Navarro. KC says he is surprised that Nic is waiting to get his title shot against Santana, but he respects it. Here is Ryan Nemeth to complain about what his brother did. Mike Santana is here. He says there is no man that he trusts in the locker room, but he respects that Nemeth called his shot ahead of time. But he got one thing wrong; Nemeth said he would make Santana shake his hand when he wins, but he wants Nic to shake his hand when he beats him. Navarro says this is great and all, but he has a title shot tonight against Ali, and he could use their help tonight and watch his back in case Order-4 try anything. Both Nic and Mike agree to this, causing Ryan to lose his mind again. He says he is the younger brother, and KC says good for you lol.

    CAN’T STOP THE SYSTEM!

Fabian Aichner and Leon Slater vs. Eddie Edwards and Cedric Alexander

Slater wants Alexander at the bell, but Cedric tags in Eddie instead. Edwards with the shoulder tackle, leapfrog, Slater slides underneath, recoil Enziguri for Slater! Corner splash incoming, and Aichner gets the tag. Eddie sends off Aichner, Alexander kicks him in the back, so Fabian smacks him one. Tilt-a-world backbreaker for Cedric, but Eddie attacks from behind and he smacks Slater in the face. Alexander hits an overhead suplex to Aichner on the apron, and we’re off for the break!

Aichner is in all kinds of trouble as we return. Alexander tags in and he hammer throws Aichner to the corner. He taunts Leon before tagging in Edwards. Eddie with a kick to the face and a pin that gets him a two. Another quick tag to Cedric, as he hits a snap suplex into a pin for a one. Another pin, another one. Quick tag out to Eddie, who stalks Fabian and headbutts him. Edwards drops Slater from the apron, but that allows Aichner the chance to land some shots before both men collide smack in the middle of the ring.

Aichner tags in Slater, who meets Alexander in the middle of the ring with kicks. Alexander counters Slater’s cutter but Slater counters the Lumbar Check with a springboard crossbody for a two. Edwards stops Slater from attacking Alexander, so Aichner is in and he clotheslines Edwards to the floor. SUPERKICK from Slater to Alexander, Aichner with a Tornado DDT.

Slater heads to the top rope, but here comes Brian Myers and Bear Bronson! Aichner catches them out with a springboard CANNONABLL to the floor! SLATER CLEARS THE CORNER AND TAKES OUT THE SYSTEM! Slater returns Alexander to the ring, but Alisha grabs his leg long enough for Alexander to recover and hit the Lumbar Check on Slater and the System win it!
    WINNERS: The System
    TIME: 11:00
THOUGHTS: Fairly good match. I kind of figured that Slater would win the match for his team and get some kind of momentum going into Ultimate-X on the 28th, but that wasn’t meant to be.
    RATING: ***1/2

Post-match, the beatdown is on as Aichner tries to fight back, but the numbers game is too much. MOOSE is here! He hits the ring, but the entire System escapes the ring! Moose has the mic. He’s back after being gone for a long time! He spoke to Santino, and at Slammiversary, it will be Moose and Eddie one-on-one!

Speaking of Santino, he is in the back! He says he is happy that Indi Hartwell and himself won last week. But now, they can finally move on with their lives, because Arianna is still his daughter, but that Stacks is a SONOFAGUN, and next time, they will be back with a better attitude. Indi Hartwell is here, and she says she was so happy to live out one of her childhood dreams and use the Cobra! She wants another match with Elayna Black, and Santino approves it!

We will hear from the Righteous, next!

    BREAK IN PROGRESS!

We see Navarro and Ali getting ready for the main event in the back.

We see a microphone in the ring, and the Righteous make their way out to the ring. Vincent, still with his crown on, tells us that in the Wicked Garden, the vines don’t let go. Last week, history was made, first of its kind. And walking through the barbaric beauty, the Hardy’s met Lily of the Valley. Delicate and elegant, but dangerous underneath. What he did to Jeff, he didn’t do it to hurt him, he did it to prove a point, that even legends decay. For 30 years, the Hardy’s have survived tables, ladders, cages, and time itself. And then they entered the Wicked Garden, and what happened? The Righteous classified the Hardy’s as obsolete!

Dutch said the Wicked Garden was a glorious occasion. He watched Brother Nero convulse, and he watched the Hardy legacy die. The Hardy’s were yesterday, but the Righteous are today and tomorrow!

Vincent says after they beat the Hardy’s, there is one thing left for them, and that is the World Tag Team Titles!

But never mind that shit, here comes MONGO SANTINO! First thing, he wants to let them know that they give him the heebie-jeebies in his stomach! Second thing, the Wicked Garden was incredible! But the Hardy’s have the contract rematch for their tag team titles, so at Slammiversary, the System will defend their titles against the Hardy’s and the Righteous in a ladder match!

Vincent says you don’t understand that after last week the Hardy’s are gone. However, we hear the voice of Matt Hardy going AH YESSSSSSSSSSSSS! The lights go out and when they come back on there is a ladder in the ring. Vincent loses his mind, while Dutch throws the ladder out of the ring.

We see the Elegance Brand walking in the back. Ash, who is wearing an interesting yet amazing looking outfit, walks by Elayna Black, and she laughs at her.

    BREAK IN PROGRESS!

The Personal Concierge is back for a second time to do his shit, and he wants us degenerates to show some respect for the Elegance Brand!

The Elegance Brand vs. Rosemary, Allie, and Mara Sade

Mr. Elegance trips up Sade on the ring apron, and the Elegance girls attack before the bell. The Undead Realm attacks and they lay out the Elegance Brand with a triple clothesline on the floor.

The bell officially rings with Sade and M starting this one off. Sade with body shots to the corner and Sade loads up a missile dropkick, but M kicks out at two. M losses her mind when Rosemary comes in, and she tags Ash. Ash prays in the middle of the ring, and Rosemary goes under the ring and grabs a doll. Ash screams that is her, and Rosemary uses the doll like it’s a Voodoo doll. We see Ash stick her finger up her nose, do the Sade dance, and Allie bites the butt of the doll, affecting Ash’s butt. This is uh, this is something lol.

Rosemary throws the doll to M, but she uses the doll to allow Ash to duck an incoming Rosemary, and the beatdown is on. Mr. Elegance taunts Rosemary and she reaches for him, but that allows M to attack. Rosemary bites the finger of M to escape and she hits a dropkick.

Allie gets the tag, as does Heather, and Allie lays her out. Allie with the tarantula, but Ash saves her. She hides behind the ref, allowing M to hit a kick to the face of Rosemary. Sade chases Ash around the ring and she tries to hide behind Iceman, but Sade slaps both of them lol. In the ring, Heather rolls up Allie for a two.

Heather looking for a move off the top rope, but Rosemary holds on to the leg of Allie, so Heather ends up suplexing herself to the mat. Allie frees herself and hits Heather with the Codebreaker and she wins it for her team!
WINNERS: Rosemary, Allie, and Mara Sade
    TIME: 5:30
THOUGHTS: More comedy than anything serious, although with all of the titles being defended at Slammiversary, this provides a path to the Knockouts Titles for Allie and Rosemary, or perhaps Sade.
    RATING: **1/2

We see Navarro is ready for the main event. We see Tasha Steelz knock on the door, and Ali comes out and he makes the walk, flanked by Order-4. The main event is coming up next!

    BREAK IN PROGRESS!

Slammiversary is coming to Boston on Sunday, June 28th! Reminder that the show has a 4:00PM start time!

Speaking of said event, Tom and Matt run down the matches for Slammiversary. We learn that Ricky Sosa will face Eric Young, and the Elegance Brand will face Rosemary and Allie for the Knockouts Tag Team Titles.

TNA International Title Match: Mustafa Ali (C) vs. KC Navarro

Navarro shows he has brass balls when he slaps Ali at the bell. Ali, to his credit, shows some reverse initially before he lays into Navarro. Irish Whip, but Navarro does the Spider-Man in the ropes, and Ali misses his charge and lands on the middle rope. Navarro hits a tope suicida and then doubles down with a dive into a DDT on the floor! He takes time to look at the International Title before he goes back to Ali.

Ali eventually regains control and looks for a piledriver on the floor, but Navarro with a back body drop instead. Navarro slaps the ring steps and throws Ali into the ring apron. KC breaks the count and grabs Ali by the hair while walking the apron. John Skyler throws off his blazer and he threatens Ali, allowing Mustafa to drop Navarro with the Electric Chair.

Ali returns Navarro to the ring and rolls in through the ropes and hits a DDT for a two. Ali with the dreaded chinlock, Navarro gets to his feet, but Ali rips him down by his hair. He celebrates how awesome he is, while Tasha talks that mad smack to Navarro. Irish Whip, but Navarro ducks an incoming Ali and he hits a kick to the head. Navarro looks to run, but Ali with the Bell Clap and he applies a variation of the STF.

And we’re back from the “break” as Navarro makes the slow crawl to the bottom rope. Ali with a knee to the back of KC’s head and he heads to the top rope. 450 Splash is avoided, and Navarro with a dropkick that sends Ali face-first into the corner.

Both men get to their feet and strikes are traded. Ali to the top, but KC cuts him off with an Enziguri. KC to the top, but Ali picks up Navarro into a DVD Set-up. KC COUNTERS WITH A CUTTER FROM THE TOP ROPE! The cover, but Ali kicks out at 2.5. THIS IS AWESOME chants, as Navarro looks for the Blessing in Disguise, but Ali was ready for it. Ali trips up Navarro, but KC avoids his next move and hits the Fameasser! The cover, but Ali kicks out at two.

Ali trips up Navarro into the ropes, and he rolls up KC with his feet on the ropes, but Paige the Ref catches him and refuses to count. Navarro ends up rolling up Ali for a two instead. The Blessing in Disguise from KC, but Ali kicks out at two! Navarro heads to the top looking for a missile dropkick, but Ali picks him out of the air and he applies the Sharpshooter, forcing KC to tap out!
    WINNER: Mustafa Ali (Still Champion)
    TIME: 10:30
THOUGHTS: I wish the match got more time, but for what we got, it was really good. I won’t say that I have kept up on the career of Navarro, but he impressed me here, and Ali always impresses me.
    RATING: ***3/4

Post-match, Ali reapplies the Sharpshooter, but Nic Nemeth is here! He looks to enter the ring, but the numbers are too great. Mike Santana is here! They look at each other and then pull the Good Hands out of the ring! They get into the ring and attack Agent Zero. He gets the better of them, but Nemeth and Santana double clothesline Zero out of the ring. Nemeth and Santana brace for Order-4 to attack, but they back off. Well, except for Ali, who tries to hit Santana with his title belt, but Nemeth hits Ali with a SUPERKICK. Santana stares down Nemeth and goes to help up Navarro, but Nemeth hits Santana with the Danger Zone! Nemeth runs the gamut of emotions before his music hits, and with that, we are done!

    7.0
    The final score: review Good
    The 411
Slammiversary is starting to take shape with two and a half weeks to go, and this show provides us with more context clues as to what we can expect on the 28th in Boston. Outside of the Elijah and Mr. Elegance "match", there wasn't anything overly offensive, but the main event was great, and it could have been better with a LITTLE bit more time.
