Paul Heyman Reflects On How Close He Was To Working With TNA

Paul Heyman recently talked about TNA reaching out to him in 2010, as well as what those discussions were like. TNA had contact with Heyman, who was a free agent at that point, about his potentially coming to work with them. The company was in the midst of its Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff era at the time and the discussions didn’t bear fruit, though they certainly drew their share of speculation at the time.
Heyman was asked about TNA reaching out to him by Chris Van Vliet on Insight. He said that he’s not sure how close he was to working there, but detailed what his plan had been at that time. You can see the highlights below:
On If There Was Talk Of Him Working With TNA In 2006:
“Not in 2006… [TNA reached out in] 2010.”
On If He Was Ever Close to Working With TNA:
“Depends on the perspective of the person that you’re asking. You’re asking me, was I ever close? I don’t know. I certainly told them what my five-year plan was, and I talked about this on Ariel Helwani’s podcast back then, going to get rid of everybody over 40, going to get rid of all the legends, going to keep one. Back then they had way too many legends. It was an old-timers game, and some of them had years left to give, but they got lumped in with the other veterans, so they seemed older than they were.”
