WWE Hall of Famer AJ Styles played a role in the Underground Match between Kendal Grey and Lola Vice for the NXT Women’s Championship during last week’s NXT.
On The AJ Styles Show, The Phenomenal One revealed that he was one of the two producers for the match. Styles heaped praise on both Kendal Grey and Lola Vice, stating that he and the other producer didn’t have much to do, given the MMA background of the two competitors.
However, the veteran added there were “some sprinkles” of Styles in the match
Check out his comments below:
“Yeah, there were two of us, two producers in that match: [Johnny] Moss and myself. There’s not much you need to do in a match like this because these girls are so good. But if you watch it, there are some sprinkles of AJ Styles in there that you’ll go, ‘Oh, yeah, that makes sense.’ But the truth is, Moss and I didn’t have to do very much because they’re so good at what they do. Both these girls, Kendal’s not just a wrestler, by the way. She took all kinds of mixed martial arts, and you can tell once she starts throwing punches, you’re like, ‘Wait a second!’
“Then Lola is the same, MMA. She can throw and her kicks are just freaking awesome. When you see them, you go, ‘Hold on a second! That doesn’t look fake at all.’ Just the way they do certain things is just unbelievable. And this match that they had, whoever came up with it and put them in it, perfect. It was perfect. They’re so good.”

Vice showcased her skills throughout the bout, but in the end, Kendal emerged victorious and retained the championship, handing Lola her first-ever defeat in an Underground Match. Vice bid farewell to the NXT audience after the show went off the air, as she is main roster-bound.
