AEW has a new World Champion. At long last, Will Ospreay fulfilled his destiny, beating Kenny Omega and winning the AEW World Title. It was a vicious, hard-fought, back-and-forth contest, running nearly 35 minutes in length.

Ultimately, Ospreay scored the victory in front of a hometown crowd at London’s Wembley Stadium. During the match, Ospreay attempted to hit Omega with the latter’s own finishing move, One Winged Angel. However, Omega kicked out at one. Omega also kicked out of a Stonebreaker from Ospreay at just a one-count as well.

Ultimately, with both men bleeding and giving everything they had, Ospreay pulled the trigger and delivered a final Hidden Blade. That secured Ospreay the pinfall and his first AEW World Title.

Ospreay ends Omega’s second run as AEW World Champion at 53 days. Omega won the title from MJF last month at Beach Break. Also, Ospreay is the first Englishman to win the World Title on British soil.

Despite their past differences, Omega showed his respect to the new champion after the match, and the pair embraced after an epic, hard-fought battle. Ospreay then celebrated the victory, as the Ospreay era of AEW has officially begun.
