A new report has some additional context on the report Bruce Prichard is stepping away from his role in WWE next year. As noted, PWInsider reported on Tuesday evening that Prichard is expected to retire from his role as Executive Director of Creative Writing & Talent, likely after WrestleMania 43. The report noted that Prichard would remain part of WWE in a consulting basis, but would no longer live in Stamford.
Fightful Select has some additional context from the matter. The outlet reports that according to sources familiar with the matter, Prichard would still be part of WWE (as PWInsider noted) but would be working from home much more. The report goes on to say that the WWE executive needs a “very serious” surgery done that would result in his coming off the road and working from home.
It was also noted that Prichard has already been not feeling well physically but has remained on the road, including filling in for Triple H in terms of running shows the last couple of weeks while the WWE CCO was on vacation. An internal memo said to have been sent earlier this year within WWE about Prichard’s status, but there’s no word on the details of the memo.
The report also points out that Prichard working from home could lead to a return on Something to Wrestle, which he hosted with Conrad Thompson, but that those conversations have not happened as of now. Thompson spoke with Fightful last week and was asked about the potential of Prichard to return to the podcast, which is now hosted by Thompson and JBL. Thompson had noted that “I’m sure if and when the time is right and he is no longer living in Stamford, then then we’ll be able to figure something out. But I think that’s going to be the foreseeable future for a little while.”
