Ultimate Fighter 28 Heavy Hitters

The Ultimate Fighter 28: Heavy Hitters Episode FIVE
INTRODUCTION: Season 28 of the Ultimate Fighter is here. This season will feature women’s featherweights and men’s heavyweights divisions, and the coaches are current UFC Middleweight Champion Robert Whittaker battling against title contender and former middleweight The Ultimate Fighter 17 winner Kelvin Gastelum. LAST WEEK, Julija Stoliarenko (4-2-1 MMA, 0-0 TUF) vs. Marciea Allen (7-2 MMA, 0-0 TUF) via RD1 submission This week, Josh Parisian (7-2 MMA, 0-0 TUF) vs. Michel Batista (4-0 MMA, 0-0 TUF).

– Marciea Allen is upset about her loss last week, she knows she gave as well as she got, but is very upset about losing. She says one slip cost her, and is nursing an injured foot. Julija Stoliarenko is getting her drink on in the hot tub/pool, celebrating her win. She drank so much that she puked; she drank three bottles of wine. She admits to not being a good drinker, but felt she had to let loose

– Team Gastelum and Josh Parisian train now. Parisian classifies himself an unorthodox striker, and feels he’ll have the striking advantage over wrestler Michel Batista. Parisian won on Dana White’s contender show, and while he didn’t get a contract, he got on TUF because of that win. Gastelum is concerned about Batista’s wrestling game, but feels he has no stand up to speak of.

– Michel Batista is fighting for his family in Cuba, who he sends money back to. He’s a former Olympic Wrestler. His mother was an athlete as well and he misses her a lot. He left Cuba because there were no opportunities to train in MMA there. My man works 18-hour days and then fits in training.

– Gastelum brings in his own strength and conditioning coach (John Walker) to help with the team. They’ve worked together for over 3-years. He works drills designed to create explosiveness to begin, and does a lot of one on one drills. Gastelum’s team seems to really like him.

– Gastelum brings food to the house for his team. Leah Letson is still not happy being on Team Whittaker, and is jealous of Team Gastelum.

– Team Whittaker works on Michel Batista’s striking ahead of his fight. Batista is 1-1 against Daniel Cormier in international wrestling competition and wants to face him in MMA.

– Back at the house, Parisian checks out some letters from home. This leads to home video of Parisian. He has a nice home and three dogs. He works as an IT Investigator and quit his job to pursue MMA full time.

WEIGH-INS: Josh Parisian (260.5) vs. Michel Batista (259)

– We get the usual pre-fight warm-ups.

Josh Parisian (7-2 MMA, 0-0 TUF) vs. Michel Batista (4-0 MMA, 0-0 TUF): ROUND ONE: Batista is 6-years older, and will enjoy a 3-inch reach advantage; Parisian has more MMA experience. Parisian immediately backs off Batista, but Batista gets the takedown along the cage. Parisian pops up but Batista drags him back down. Batista controls, but Parisian is back to the feet and they work along the cage until Batista takes him back down. Parisian works his way back to the feet, but Batista takes him back down with ease. He lays in rights and controls from the top. Parisian back to the feet, already looking tired, and is taken right back down. Batista stacks him up, lays in strikes, and continues to control with ease. Parisian is busted up now. Batista locks on a rear naked choke and gets the hooks in but Parisian survives the round. SCORECARD: Batista 10-8

ROUND TWO: Parisian comes out throwing wildly, and is immediately taken down. Batista lands knees and strikes, Parisian has no answer her, Batista smothers him, lays in more strikes, and then slams Parisian down. The punishment continues and the fight is stopped. This was an absolutely embarrassing performance by Parisian who was thusly humbled and offered nothing at all. OFFICIAL DECISION: Michel Batista via RD2 stoppage

– Team Gastelum is out to a 3-2 lead.

Next Week: Bea Malecki (2-0 MMA, 0-0 TUF) vs. Leah Letson (4-1 MMA, 0-0 TUF); Uriah Hall arrives while Leah continues to be frustrated with team Gastelum.
