Hello everyone and welcome to 411mania’s LIVE coverage of Noche UFC 3, I’m Robert Winfree and I’ll be your host. It’s been a pretty terrible week so let’s see how the fights shake out. This card was originally to take place as a PPV in Guadalajara’s new arena, but once TKO got promotional rights to the Canelo vs. Crawford boxing match for Allegiant Stadium on this same day and UFC president Dana White decided he was promoting that fight this event got bumped to an earlier time, had to change venues as the original arena isn’t actually built yet, and downgraded to a Fight Night. Despite all that the main event is a really good fight, former title challenger Diego Lopes takes on rising contender Jean Silva. Both men are higher paced action oriented fighters so I’m fairly optimistic about that fight, though the UFC’s annual celebration of Mexican fighting tradition being headlined by two Brazilian fighters is definitely a choice. Things get a little slimmer after that, Rob Font was supposed to fight Raul Rosas Jr. but Rosas fell out of the bout so instead he’s fighting David Martinez, Jared Gordon vs. Rafa Garcia should be OK though. Kelvin Gastelum missed weight for his middleweight fight which is just almost comical for him at this point. Alexander Hernandez is making a quick turnaround from beating Chase Hooper to now taking on Diego Ferreira. ON the prelims Joaquim Silva is making his annual walk to the cage, two former strawweight title challengers battle it out in Lemos vs. Suarez, and if you care about TUF (you shouldn’t) the TUF 33 welterweight finals are here between Rodrigo Sezinando and Daniil Donchenko. So the card should have a strong conclusion and there are a few fights worth your time on paper, now let’s hope the action lives up to that potential.

Noche UFC 3 comes to the world from the Frost Bank Arena in San Antonio, Texas, USA. Brendan Fitzgerald, Daniel Cormier, and Dominick Cruz will call the action. We should be in the regular 30 foot cage and I’m pretty sure Texas allows the newer rule set but I’ll update this if I’m incorrect in my recollection of that.

Rodrigo Sezinando brings a four fight winning streak into this TUF finale and he’s looking to claim the glass trophy along with securing more fights in the promotion. Daniil Donchenko likewise brings a four fight winning streak into this fight and he could claim the TUF title here. The odds are with Donchenko at -230 against +190 for Sezinando.

Welterweight Bout: Daniil Donchenko (11-2, 171 lbs.) vs. Rodrigo Sezinando (8-1, 170.5 lbs.)

ROUND ONE: Donchenko is two inches taller but the reach is identical. They touch gloves to get us going. Donchenko has a few punches blocked. Bit of a right from Sezinando then Donchenko returns it. Calf kick from Donchenko. Both men land rights again. Takedown from Sezinando against the fence but Donchenko quickly wall walks into a clinch. A few knees from Donchenko land, then Sezinando returns one. Sezinando is bleeding, not sure what caused that but it’s visible. Donchenko lands an elbow as they break. Right hand from Donchenko, he’s starting to throw elbows in close now. The ref wants the doctor to check the cut on Sezinando. The cut is on the inside of the right eyebrow, the doctor says there’s no issue so we’re back to fighting but they’re going to keep an eye on that cut. Sezinando keeps pressing forward and they trade punches again. Front kick from Donchenko. Elbow from Donchenko then body shots. Sezinando misses a spinning back fist. Another elbow from Donchenko, Sezinando is too predictable with his pressure and Donchenko is cutting him up. Takedown from Donchenko against the fence. Sezinando looks to wall walk, Donchenko with a knee to the body then some elbows before Sezinando gets up into a clinch. Donchenko fires punches and an elbow before breaking out of the clinch. Sezinando walks into another elbow. A knee from Donchenko catches Sezinando low as Sezinando was kicking and we’ve got a time out. Just bad timing there on the foul. We’re back to figting pretty quickly. Sezinando tries a takedown, Donchenko defends against the fence then lands a flurry of punches. Sezinando drops from punches and Donchenko gets on top and fires enough punches to get the stoppage.

OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Daniil Donchenko via TKO, punches and elbows, at 4:27 of Round 1

The First Round Finish Club thanks Mr. Donchenko for his work. Dana White isn’t here so Sean Shelby does the canned “you are the ultimate fighter” line. Mic time for Donchenko, he’s not surprised because he works very hard and is here to shed blood and have his shed. He just wants his next opponent and then we’ll see. He jokes that he wont be allowed through the airport with his elbows now that everyone knows they’re a weapon. To close he says he doesn’t want his pay check, just sign one of his team mates then sends love to his native Ukraine.

Alice Pereira is undefeated and is making her UFC debut at only 19 years of age. She’ll be looking to remain that way and have a positive first impression on the UFC audience. Montserrat Rendon has gone 1-1 in the UFC but she’s coming off of a loss as well as a layoff of around 18 months, now she’s mostly looking to avoid her first losing streak. Fairly close fight here, -155 for Pereira to +130 on Rendon.

Women’s Bantamweight Bout: Alice Pereira (5-0, 136 lbs.) vs. Montserrat Rendon (6-1, 136 lbs.)

ROUND ONE: These two are the same height while Pereira is three inches taller, she’s also 15 years younger. They touch gloves to get us going. Rendon is generally moving forward while Pereira circles. Little front kick from Pereira then she misses punches. Rendon keeps moving forward. Bit of a left uppercut from Pereira. Pereira avoids a takedown attempt. Both women miss kicks, this looks like amateur sparring not a UFC level fight. Bit of a front kick from Pereira. Rendon tries a clinch but Pereira lands a knee then gets free. They trade rights, so at least something happened this round. Pereira keeps poking out a lead leg front kick, it’s about the only thing she’s reliably landed but even that’s infrequent. Rendon avoids a few wide punches. Body kick from Pereira then Rendon with a bit of a right hand. Leg kick from Rendon. Rendon pushes into a clinch on the fence, she tries a single leg but wont find anything then Pereira land a couple of punches to close the round.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Pereira but who knows as the round sucked

ROUND TWO: Back to circling and sloppily missing punches this round. Rendon grabs a clinch on the fence but can’t keep it and they get back to circling. Bit of a calf kick from Pereira. Again that little front kick from Pereira lands. Bit of a left hook from Pereira. Rendon with a right hand. Pereira lands a right hand. They trade rights. Pereira avoids a takedown attempt. Bit of a left hook from Pereira again. Rendon tries to flurry in close after she off balanced Pereira by shoving her, then she punches into a clinch again. Pereira pulls out of the clinch pretty easily. Now Pereira starts moving forward, well that’s a change at least. Both women miss some swinging wild punches. Rendon avoids a wild right hand and lands a couple of punches in close. Flurry from Rendon and she gets Pereira to try a takedown then Rendon moves to the back and grabs at a choke but Pereira is hand fighting. There’s not much time left and Pereira will see out the round.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Rendon, 19-19 overall

ROUND THREE: They get back to circling and sloppy punches, but Pereira does land a left hook. They trade rights then Pereira tries a takedown against the fence but has to settle for a clinch. They break without incident. Pereira goes southpaw now, not sure why as she switches again before long. Bit of a left from Pereira. More circling from Pereira, Rendon lands a right to the body. They trade mediocre punches then Rendon gets a clinch on the fence. Pereira gets free pretty quickly, her anti-grappling is solid but her offense is pretty weak so far. Rendon keeps moving forward, she walks into a superman punch but it doesn’t do much. Pereira is clearly used to fighters not handling getting hit well and Rendon is composed even when punched. Rendon tries a takedown and settles for a clinch on the fence. They break without incident. They trade punches, Rendon landed a good right hand but also took a knee. Another little flurry from Rendon to close the round.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Rendon, 29-28 Rendon overall

OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Montserrat Rendon via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 30-27)

Well that fight sucked. Fire the judge who scored that for Pereira. No interview for Rendon.

Alessandro Costa has traded wins and losses while going 2-2 in the UFC, he is coming off of a win but that was way back in May of last year and he’ll have to knock off some ring rust if he wants his first UFC winning streak. Alden Coria brings a four fight unbeaten streak into his UFC debut and now he’s looking to make a good first impression on the UFC audience. Costa is among the biggest favorites on the card at -340 while a Coria win pays out at +240.

Flyweight Bout: Alden Coria (10-3 1 NC, 126 lbs.) vs. Alessandro Costa (14-4, 125.5 lbs.)

ROUND ONE: Coria is four inches taller but the reach is identical. They touch gloves to get going. A few leg kicks go back and forth, mostly just range finding. A few stance switches from Coria. Bit of a counter right from Costa. Jab from Coria. Coria avoids a high kick. Inside leg kick then a right hand from Costa. Coria lands a right hand. Single leg from Costa but Coria is able to defend. ROUND TWO: Coria lands a right hand then gets a takedown into full guard. Some elbows from Coria land. Costa is trying to get his guard working, but Coria keeps sneaking in elbows. Costa inverts for a leg lock then uses that to wall walk with Coria into a clinch. Kimura attack from Costa as Coria is on his hip, that turns into a granby roll and scramble then Costa gets the back standing and hits a German suplex then gets a body triangle. Choke attack from Costa but Coria is defending so far. Face crank from Costa, Coria has to defend that but he does so then turns into Costa’s guard and lands an elbow. Some more elbows from Coria then lands punches to pass to half guard. That’s where the round will end.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Coria, 20-18 Coria overall

ROUND THREE: Apparently there’s an issue with Costa’s left foot, it nearly stopped him from getting to his corner between rounds. Bit of a left uppercut from Costa. Yeah you can see the discoloration on the left toes of Costa. Coria pushes forward and flurries against the fence, Costa can’t move enough to defend and the ref has to step in.

OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Alden Coria via TKO, punches, at :47 of Round 3

The Final Round Finish Club thanks Mr. Coria for his work. Costa is still on the stool, both of his feet are messed up. Mic time for Coria, he feels amazing being in the UFC finally. He talks us through the finish then wants a post fight bonus from Dana, who isn’t present.

Zachary Reese has gone 3-2 in the UFC and he’s coming off of a win so he’s looking to get his second UFC winning streak up and running here. Sedriques Dumas has gone 3-3 in the UFC and most recently got stopped by Michal Oleksiejczuk, now he’s trying to avoid his first UFC losing streak. The odds are with Reese at -225 to a +185 comeback for Dumas.

Middleweight Bout: Sedriques Dumas (10-3, 186 lbs.) vs. Zachary Reese (9-2, 185.5 lbs.)

ROUND ONE: Reese is two inches taller but Dumas has two inches of reach advantage. Both men probe with kicks, and Reese kicks Dumas in the groin so we’ve got a time out. The replay shows there’s not doubt about this one, and Dumas is down against the fence. Dumas is down after 2:30, he’s not even moving to stand upright so we might not make it back to fighting here. After 3:30 or so Dumas can’t even get up and they just wave it off.

OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – No Contest at :51 of Round 1

Well that sucks, it was one of those accidental fouls but it still sucks. Dumas had to be pretty much carried out of the cage.

Jesus Aguilar has gone 3-2 in the UFC but he is coming off of a loss and now tries to avoid his first losing streak while also proving he’s still a prospect in the division. Luis Gurule suffered his first professional loss in his UFC debut against Ode Osbourne, now he’s back in action and looking for that all important first UFC win. Gurule is favored to do just that at -200 but that +165 payout on Aguilar is a tempting little value bet.

Flyweight Bout: Jesus Aguilar (11-3, 126 lbs.) vs. Luis Gurule (10-1, 125.5 lbs.)

Not sure about that 30-27. No interview for Aguilar.

Tatiana Suarez suffered her first professional loss back in February when she lost decisively to Zhang Weili which itself was her first fight 18 months, now she’s trying to avoid her first losing streak and also retain title position now that the belt is vacant. Amanda Lemos has gone 9-4 in the UFC including a failed title bid of her own, most recently she bested Iasmin Lucindo and could get her first winning streak since 2022 up and running here. For understandable reasons the odds heavily favor Suarez at -410 to the +320 of Lemos.

OFFICIAL RESULT: †WINNER – Tatiana Suarez via unanimous decision (29-28 x3)

No interview for Suarez.

Claudio Puelles has gone 5-3 but he’s on a two fight losing streak, though in fairness to him the most recent one was a split decision and now he’s trying to get his first win since he caught Clay Guida with a kneebar back in 2022. Joaquim Silva has actually been with the UFC since 2015 but has just 11 fights during that time, tonight marks his first trip to the cage since losing to Drakkar Klose in May of last year and he’s trying to avoid another losing streak. Close one here, -135 on Puelles to +115 for Silva.

SCORECARD: 10-9 Silva, 19-19 overall

ROUND THREE: Body kick from Silva to start the round. Both men land rights in close. Single leg from Puelles and he gets Silva down, Silva wall walks with Puelles on his back. No issues with that, but no interview for Silva.

Jose Medina is on a three fight losing streak including being 0-2 in the UFC, he really needs to break that streak and find his first UFC win here or he could be out of the promotion. Dusko Todorovic has gone just 3-6 in the UFC and is currently rocking a three fight skid of his own, so we could really be looking at a loser leaves town style match here. The odds are pretty solidly with Todorovic at -360 against Medina’s +285.

Alexander Hernandez is riding a three fight winning streak and bested Chase Hooper last month, now he’s trying to maintain that momentum with a quick turnaround and fourth consecutive win. Diego Ferreira has a pretty lengthy career dating back to 2013, he’s gone 2-2 in his last four and most recently lost to Grant Dawson. At age 40 Ferreira is likely looking for a few more highlights before hanging them up. The odds lean towards Ferreira at -120 against and even +100 for Hernandez.

Kelvin Gastelum missed weight for this fight pretty badly, the man has had a history of weight issues though this is only his third official miss, but he’s coming off of a loss and at this point needs a win to try and salvage some good will with the promotion. Dustin Stoltzfus has traded wins and losses while going 3-3 in his last six fights, he’s coming off of a loss though and is trying to avoid his first losing streak since 2021. David Martinez is on an eight fight winning streak including his UFC debut earlier this year, he got bumped up in a big way here though and Font represents a massive step up in class for him. That said a win would be career making for Martinez and could set him up for even bigger fights going forward. Font is a slight favorite at -120 to +100 for Martinez.

That’s a heck of a win for Martinez, also a little bit of an ominous performance from Font. Mic time for Martinez and the translator, he puts over Mexico for the crowd. Cormier brings up that Mexican fighters went 5-0 tonight and he gets a little emotional talking about what it means to be a fighter here winning on Mexican Independence Day.
