Kevin Ferguson Jr. Discusses His Path to MMA
– Kevin Ferguson Jr. recently spoke with mmajunkie.com, here are the highlights…
On His Path to MMA: “I went to the Academy of Art for photography,” Ferguson said after a recent workout in Long Beach, Calif. “But I stopped going to school because I started shooting (Kimbo’s) fights. He did ‘The Scorpion King 3’ (movie), and I was in Thailand with him. I moved from Florida and started doing things on my own. I didn’t tell my dad or my manager now. They didn’t even know I had a fight until after the fight, when the world figured out Kimbo Slice’s son just fought. Then my dad called me immediately and we talked and it was a great conversation.”
On What made Him Want to Train: “Seeing (A.J. McKee) and his dad work together is something I wanted to do with my father,” Ferguson said. “I just embrace it all and I just love the experience being around it.”
On what to Expect with His Debut: Expect fast, hard punching. Everything I do is going to be very aggressive. I’m just gonna go out there and stick to the game plan: the knockout.”
