Matheus Nicolau Pulled From UFC Fight Night 100 Due to Potential Anti-Doping Violation
A second UFC fighter has received notification of a a potential anti-doping violation today, and this one affects one of the company’s events. UFC officials announced today that Matheus Nicolau has been notified of a possible violation by USADA and is out of his fight with Ulka Susaki at UFC Fight Night 100. The violation stems froom the collection of an out-of-competition sample on October 13th per MMAjunkie.
The news comes after Tom Lawlor was notified of his own potential anti-doping violation earlier on Friday.
UFC officials are seeking a replacement for Nicolau for the fight. Their statement said, “USADA, the independent administrator of the UFC anti-doping policy, will handle the results management and appropriate adjudication of this case. It is important to note that, under the UFC anti-doping policy, there is a full fair legal review process that is afforded to all athletes before any sanctions are imposed. Consistent with all previous potential anti-doping violations, additional information or UFC statements will be provided at the appropriate time as the process moves forward.”
UFC FIght Night 100 takes place on November 19th from Sao Paulo, Brazil.
