Max Holloway vs. Yair Rodriguez Added To UFC on ESPN+ 55
ESPN reports that a featherweight fight between Max Holloway and Yair Rodriguez has been added to UFC on ESPN+ 55. The event happens on November 13 in Las Vegas. Holloway vs. Rodriguez will be the main event.
The bout was originally set for July 17, but Holloway had to back out due to injury. Holloway reportedly accepted the date this week. He is seen as the #1 contender in the division. He lost to current champion Alexander Volkanovski in December 2019 by unanimous decision, then split decision in July 2020 (which some felt he actually won). He then fought Calvin Kattar in January and won by unanimous decision, landing 445 strikes.
Rodriguez hasn’t fought since a win over Jeremy Stephens at October 2019. He was set to fight Zabit Magomedsharipov in August 2020, but backed out due to injury. It’s believed the winner will get a featherweight title shot.
