Nick Hein spoke with MMAjunkie about his win over Yusuke Kasuya at UFC Fight Night 75. Check out the highlights:

On his win over Kasuya: “The thing is, he started smiling when I punched him. It got me a little bit and I thought, ‘Hey, if you can do it, I can do it, as well.’ It was really mutual respect. He got me good with some body shots with some kicks. On the other hand, I tried to put him in a trap with some punches. Every time, we survived what the other one had planned. He always had that smirk on his face and then I had it took. It was definitely respect. It’s also, like, I come from Germany and in Germany – I didn’t fight this fight like this because I want to convince the German politics that MMA is a sport. But, nonetheless, in my country there’s still some politics going on trying to keep MMA away from television. Now we have a television contract, but it’s nonetheless a good sign that during a fight people show respect to one another.”

On Kasuya’s performance: “I’m really happy. It was a hard piece of work. I didn’t expect him to be so tough standing up. I know he’s a newcomer, but you’ve got to take everyone seriously. He was there where I was last year, making my debut in my hometown. It always gives extra energy. He was very self-confident. Nonetheless, I could perform my gameplan. I’m really happy and really relieved.”
