Raush Manfio Says It Was Hard to Do Research on Demarques Jackson for Titan FC 41

MMAjunkie recently spoke to Raush Manfio ahead of his upcoming bout with Demarques Jackson at Titan FC 41. Below are some highlights.

His thoughts on Cavalcante vs. Freddy Assuncao: “I did watch the last championship bout – Gesias Cavalcante vs. Freddy Assuncao. The champ (Assuncao) has to be respected. My wish is to beat the current champion via a devastating knockout, so I can get into an organization that really pays the bills. Right now, we pretty much pay to fight. I am married. I want to bring my wife to the U.S., and make a family here. So, if I win this next fight, and get picked to fight for the belt, I won’t think twice about it. I’m ready.”

Manfio on his loss to Glaico Franca: “Even though I lost, it was an experience that helped me grow a lot. Without a doubt, it was one of the factors that led me to move to the United States to seek better training conditions. Everything is better, from nutrition, coaching, to working side by side with champions. American Top Team has captured 10 UFC belts, including Tyron Woodley (UFC welterweight champion) and Amanda Nunes (UFC women’s bantamweight champion). When I first became a professional, I went to Rio de Janeiro to train at Team Nogueira. More recently, I decided I needed another upgrade, and that’s why I came to the U.S.”

On having trouble with research on Jackson: “I had a hard time doing research on him – he has few fights and hasn’t fought in any relevant promotions. I was only able to find his last fight, and one from around two years ago. I could see that he’s physically strong. But nothing he did surprised me. I’m confident I’ll be able to impose my strategy. There aren’t any mysteries. Whoever comes in with a clearer mind and in better physical condition will win.”
