Adolescence, The Studio, & The Pitt Win Big At 77th Emmy Awards

The 76th annual Emmy Awards were dominated by Adolescence, The Studio and The Pitt which won the biggest awards of the night. Sunday’s awards show saw Adolescence lead the way with six wins, knocking the competition aside to nearly sweep the Limited Series, Anthology Series or Movie categories. It was followed by Apple TV+’s The Studio, which took four awards home, and The Pitt which won thee awards for HBO Max.
Adolescence won for Outstanding Limited Series, Anthology Series or Movie as well as for Directing (Philip Barantini), Lead Actor (Stephen Graham), Supporting Actor (Owen Cooper), Supporting Actress (Erin Doherty), and Writing. The only award in those categories that it didn’t win was Best Lead Actress where it wasn’t nominated, which went to Cristin Milioti for The Penguin.
Meanwhile, The Studio won for Outstanding Comedy Series, Lead Actor in a Comedy (Seth Rogen), Directing in a Comedy Series (Rogen & Evan Goldberg), and Writing in a Comedy Series. Other comedy wins went to Hacks, which took home Lead Actress for perennial winner Jean Smart and Supporting Actress for Hannah Einbinder, her first win in four nominations. Jeff Hiller won Best Supporting Actor for Somebody Somewhere.
In the drama categories, The Pitt scored an upset win over Severance for Outstanding Drama while also earning acting wins for Noah Wylie (Lead Actor) and Katherine LaNasa (Supporting Actress). Severance did take home trophies for Supporting Actor (Tramell Tillman) and Lead Actress (Britt Lower). Adam Randall won Best Directing for a Drama Series for Slow Horses, while Tony Gilroy won Best Writing for Andor.
Other big wins included Last Week Tonight With John Oliver, which won Best Scripted Variety Series over Saturday Night Live and Best Writing For a Variety Series, and The Late Show With Stephen Colbert winning Outstanding Talk Series.
