Apple Developing Action-Comedy Based On Oregon Trail Video Game
Apple is in the works on an action-comedy based on the classic Oregon Trail video game. THR reports that Will Speck and Josh Gordon are set to direct and produce the film, which is in early development and landed at Apple.
The film will feature couple of original musical numbers from Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (Only Murders In the Building), who will produce through their Ampersand production company. The musical numbers are said to be original songs along the same vein as Barbie. The Lucas Bros. (Judas and the Black Messiah) and Max Reisman will write the film.
The original game was created in 1971 and became a hit among grade school kids in the US. It sees players take control of a wagon train heading west from from Independence, Missouri to Oregon City, Oregon in 1847. Players can famously lose if their characters die of various complications, including typhoid fever and dysentery.
