Borat 2 Star Maria Bakalova Joins Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in ‘Key Role’

Oscar nominee Maria Bakalova is going from Borat to the cosmic side of the MCU, joining Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 in a “key role.” Deadline reports that Bakalova, who earned an Oscar nod for playing Borat’s daughter in Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, will play an unnamed key role in the upcoming James Gunn-directed MCU film.

Bakalova joins a cast that includes Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Sean Gunn, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Bradley Cooper, and Vin Diesel along with new MCU stars Will Poulter, Daniela Melchior, and Chukwudi Iwuji. Gunn wrote and directed the film, which is set to release on May 5th, 2023.
