Chappelle’s Show Star Paul Mooney Passes Away At Age 79

Paul Mooney, a legendary figure in the comedy world, passed away today at the age of 79 after suffering a heart attack, reports Deadline. CNN’s Roland Martin reports that Mooney died at his home in Oakland, CA.

Mooney is probably best known now for his frequent appearances on Dave Chappelle’s Chappelle’s Show and his collaborations with comedy legend Richard Pryor, including working as the head writer for The Richard Pryor Show, and also co-wrote material for Pryor’s comedy albums. He also worked as a writer on Sanford and Son, Good Times, and In Living Color, and appeared on comedic shows such as The Larry Sanders Show. He also appeared in numerous films such as The Buddy Holly Story and Spike Lee’s Bamboozled.
