Cheetah Rumored As The Villain In Wonder Woman 2

The Hashtag Show reports that Cheetah is expected to be the villain in Warner Bros and DC Films’ sequel to Wonder Woman. Production is expected to begin in the UK near the end of May, around May 28. Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Ewen Bremner and Said Taghmaoiu are set to return, with Patty Jenkins directing.

The film is reportedly set in the 1980s with Diane reuniting with Steve Trevor to battle the dissolved Soviet Union. The script was written by Geoff Johns and Dave Callaham. At one point Emma Stone was sought for Cheetah, but she passed on the role.

Several people have been Cheetah in the comics, but this version is expected to be Barbara Ann Minerva, a “British anthropologist who becomes the avatar of the cheetah god after locating the lost city of Urzkartagan and stumbling into the middle of an ancient ritual.” She is the third Cheetah. She first appeared in 1987 in Lein Wein’s Wonder Woman, Vol. 2, #7. She reclaimed the role in 2011 with the launch of the New 52.
