Disney Reportedly Making Mulan Free on Disney+ in December After Premium Cost Period
If you don’t want to pay $29.99 to see Mulan when it arrives this Friday, just wait a few months. A new report from Screen Rant states that an international ad for the film stated that the film would release to all Disney+ susbcribers on December 4th.
It is important to note that Disney has not confirmed this news, and has since removed the advertisement without comment. The film is confirmed to be available on Disney+ on September 4th, but it will be a “Premier Access” film available for unlimited views for a one-time $29.99 cost. The information does note that with the Premier Access, “you can watch Mulan before it’s available to all Disney+ subscribers.” So there will (of course) be a point when the film is available on Disney+, but exactly when has not been directly confirmed by the service.
The advertisement read:
“Mulan. Start streaming September 4, 2020 for 19.99 (Pound sterling). Watch before its release to all Disney+ subscribers on December 4, 2020. Watch as many times as you like with Premier Access and your Disney+ subscription. Requires an active Disney+ subscription.”
The film stars Liu Yifei, Donnie Yen, Jason Scott Lee, Yoson An, Gong Li, and Jet Li and is described as follows:
Mulan is the epic adventure of a fearless young woman who masquerades as a man in order to fight Northern Invaders attacking China. The eldest daughter of an honored warrior, Hua Mulan is spirited, determined and quick on her feet. When the Emperor issues a decree that one man per family must serve in the Imperial Army, she steps in to take the place of her ailing father as Hua Jun, becoming one of China’s greatest warriors ever.
