Godzilla: City on the Edge of Battle Debuts on Netflix This Month

The King of the Monsters is returning to Netflix with a new anime feature. During today’s Netflix Anime panel at the 2018 Anime Expo, Netflix announced that the new anime feature, Godzilla: City on the Edge of Battle, will debut later this month. The film is the sequel to Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters and was previously released in Japanese cinemas last May.

The new film pits humans and robots against Godzilla in an interplanetary struggle for survival. This is an epic re-imagining of the Godzilla franchise in a futuristic setting. It mashes up both kaiju and mecha genres.

City on the Edge of Battle is produced by Polygon Pictures and TOHO. Gen Urobuchi serves as story writer. The film is directed by Koubun Shizuno, Hiroyuki Seshita. A trailer for the feature was also shown during the panel.
