Guillermo del Toro to Co-Write, Produce Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark

Guillermo del Toro is set to co-write and produce the planned Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark film adaptation. Variety reports that del Toro will take on the film, partnering with CBS Films and Entertainment One who will co-finance the move. André Øvredal (The Autopsy of Jane Doe, Trollhunter) is directing the film, with Daniel and Kevin Hageman working with del Toro on the script.

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark follows a group of young teens who must solve the mystery surrounding the sudden and macabre deaths in their small town. eOne film, television, and digital president Steve Bertram called the movie a “chillingly fun ride that’s sure to leave audiences around the world jumping in their seats.”

Filming begins this summer in Toronto.
