Deadline reports that another Disney classic is set to get the live-action remake treatment, as Guy Ritchie is set to helm a new version of Hercules. Ritchie previously directed the live action Aladdin for the studio back in 2019.

The original Hercules was released back in 1997. It featured the voices of Tate Donovan, Danny DeVito, James Woods, Susan Egan, Rip Torn, Bobcat Goldthwait and Matt Frewer. It earned $252.7 million worldwide from a budget of $85 million. The film was nominated for an Academy Award, with “Go the Distance” up for Best Original Song. It was also given a prequel cartoon series on ABC, which focused on Hercules’ days in high school.

The new take will be produced by AGBO, the company run by Joe & Anthony Russo (Avengers: Endgame). Dave Callaham wrote the first draft of the script, but Disney is looking for other writers.
