HBO Releases Trailer For Hugh Laurie’s Sci-Fi Comedy Avenue 5
Hugh Laurie is heading into space for his next series Avenue 5, and HBO has released a trailer for the comedy. You can see the preview below for the series, which is a “space tourism comedy set 40 years in the future, when the solar system is everyone’s oyster.”
The series stars Laurie as Ryan Clark, the captin of Avenue 5, alongside Josh Gad as Herman Judd, the billionaire face and name behind Avenue 5; Nikki Amuka-Bird as Rav Mulcair, head of Judd Mission Control on Earth; Rebecca Front as Karen Kelly, a stowaway who becomes the voice of the passengers; Lenora Crichlow as Bliie McEvoy, second engineer; Ethan Phillips as Spike Martin, an elderly space enthusiast and former astronaut; and Suzy Nakamura as Iris Kimura, Judd’s right-hand woman. It will premiere on January 19th.
The synopsis reads:
As the series begins, Avenue 5’s eight-week journey around Saturn is underway and its systems are optimal. But when the ship suddenly encounters technical difficulties, it’s up to Ryan and his crew to calm the disgruntled passengers and find a way to deal with unexpected events onboard – though they may or may not be equipped for the task.
