Hulu Greenlights Prison Break Follow-Up Series

A follow-up series to the FOX classic series Prison Break is moving forward at Hulu. THR reports that the new update to the series has been greenlit at the streamer. Elgin James (Mayan MC) will serve as showrunner, having written and directed the pilot.

The new series will be based in the same setting as the series. However, it will feature a new cast of characters. The show will star Emily Browning, Drake Rodger, Lukas Gage, Clayton Cardenas, JR Bourne, Georgie Flores and Myles Bullock. The plot centers on an former soldier-turned-corrections officer (Browning) who “takes a job at one of the deadliest prisons in America to prove just how far she’ll go for someone she loves.”

20th Century Television is producing the series. The production shingle also produced the original show. Elgin James will executive produce along with original show creator Paul Scheuring, Dawn Olmstead, Marty Adelstein and Neal Moritz.

Prison Break ran four four seasons starting in 2005, with a fifth season airing in 2017. The series starred Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell as two brothers, the first of which gets himself imprisoned to help break out his wrongfully convicted brother. Amaury Nolasco, Robert Knepper, Sarah Wayne Callies, Paul Adelstein, Rockmond Dunbar, Peter Stormare, Robin Tunney, Marshall Allman and William Fichtner also starred.
