IPIC Theaters announced today that they are planning to start opening up their Texas locations, starting with the Fairview and Houston locations on June 4th and Austin locations on June 11th. They plan to play “catalog movies” upon opening, with special ticket prices.

Their locations in California, New Jersey, Illinois, Maryland, Florida, and Washington don’t have any announced opening dates yet.

The theater will be implementing new safety guidelines upon opening, including requiring all attendees, vendors, and employees to pass through thermal readers that will check their body temperatures. The theaters will also be using a touchless disinfectant sprayer.

Other changes include pausing the blanket and pillow service in the theater for now, requiring employees to wear masks and gloves, adding a dedicated staff member to oversee sanitation, limiting theater hours to only Thursday to Sunday to allow for extensive cleaning, making sure guests practice social distancing, adding plexiglass at Guest Services and Express Counters, and minimizing guest interactions with employees.
