Jade Reportedly Cast in Mortal Kombat 2
New Line has added a cast member to Mortal Kombat 2, with Tati Gabrielle set to play Jade in the sequel. THR reports that Gabrielle (The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) is in final talks to play Jade in the upcoming sequel. If the deal closes, she will join a cast that includes Karl Urban who will play Johnny Cage. Some of the cast from the 2021 reboot are expected to return as well, such as Jessica McNamee (Sonya Blade) and Josh Lawson (Kano).
Jade, an assassin and friend of Princess Kitana, was first seen in Mortal Kombat II. She was previously portrayed in live action by Irina Pantaeva in the much-hated Mortal Kombat: Annihilation in 1997.
Simon McQuoid is directing the new film, having also helmed the 2021 movie. Jeremy Slater is writing the script for the movie, which will follow up on the events of the previous film.
Mortal Kombat released simultaneously on HBO Max and in theaters in the middle of theaters starting to reopen from the pandemic lockdown and grossed $84.4 million. No release date is set for the sequel as of yet.
