The script for Superman Legacy is essentially complete, according to James Gunn. Gunn is writing and directing the film, which will be the first official movie of the newly-rebooted DC Universe on film, TV and in animation. Gunn posted to his Threads account t note that the script is “99.9%” complete and has been so for quite a while.

Gunn wrote in response to a question to a fan on how close the screenplay is to completion:

“99.9%. I’m always changing small things but it’s been essentially done since well before the strike.”

Gunn also noted that a rumor of casting for the Batman film The Brave and the Bold is false, noting that “There’s no script yet.”

Superman Legacy stars David Corenswet as Superman/Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, and María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer. The film is set for release on July 11th, 2025.
