Joel Edgerton Addresses Possible Return As Owen Lars in Obi-Wan Disney+ Series
Joel Edgerton sounds like he could be reprising his role as young Owen Lars in the upcoming Disney+ Obi-Wan Kenobi series. Edgerton appeared on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused Podcast and while talking about his career, was asked if he might reprise the role he played in Star Wars: Episode II: Attack of the Clones in the upcoming series.
“There is a very real possibility,” Edgerton responded when Horowitz brought up the fact that Owen is likely around at the point that the series is reportedly taking place. “You know, like there’s potentially an assassin on a rooftop just outside the window if I say the wrong thing … There’s been rumors of it for years. And no, I never thought that there was ever a world where I would sort of go back to that universe because I thought, you know, back in the day George [Lucas] said that there would only be a certain amount of movies and that was it. But, when Disney took it over and started kind of really, really getting back to the old juice, you know, the kind of aesthetic of the first three films, you’re like, ‘Ah, it’s a possibility.’ And then once you started to hear about breakaway standalone things…so yeah.”
When asked if he’s talked to Ewan McGregor, Edgerton joked, “Ewan who?” McGregor is set to reprise his role in the series, which does not yet have a premiere date.
