John Cena Books Role in New Comedy Vacation Friends

John Cena is set to star in a new comedy for 20th Century Fox and Hulu, titled Vacation Friends. Deadline reports that Cena will star with Meredith Hagner (Brightburn) and Lil Rey Howery (The Photograph) in the comedy, which is being directed by Clay Travor (Silicon Valley).

THe film centers on a straight-laced couple that has fun with a rowdy couple on vacation in Mexico. When they return to the States, they discover that the crazy couple they met in Mexico followed them back home. The film has been in the works for years, and Ice Cube was originally attached to star in 2015.

It’s the latest film role for Cena, who has Fast & Furious 9, The Suicide Squad, and Project X-Traction all on the way, and whose family comedy Playing With Fire has proven to be a success at the box office. It’s not clear yet if the film will release on Hulu as an original film or have a theatrical release, but considering Hulu’s release strategy has kept within its service thus far the former seems more likely.
