Josh Brolin’s reign as Thanos is done (barring resurrection/flashbacks), and he says he wants to know the status on his other Marvel role as Cable. Brolin, who played Nathan Christopher Summers (aka the time-hopping mutant Cable) in Deadpool 2, was at ACE Comic Con in Seattle and was asked about whether he will be appearing as Cable in any future Deadpool — or even X-Men — movies.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen,” Brolin said (per ComicBook.com). “I’m actually, I’ve been calling them, like, ‘What’s the deal with Cable, man?’ Seriously, 100 percent serious. They’re figuring it out. It’s a big world now, it just got much, much bigger. So who knows.”

The future of the X-Men films is in a state of flux now that Disney owns Fox. The main franchise came to an end with Dark Phoenix, and New Mutants will reportedly still release in theaters once those damned reshoots finally happen. As for Deadpool, Disney CEO Bob Iger has said that the franchise will continue, and will be R-rated. Whether Cable will return though, is another question.
