Josh Brolin Joins Dune Reboot
Josh Brolin is the latest star to join Denis Villeneuve’s Dune reboot. The Wrap reports that Brolin will play Gurney Halleck in the new take on the Frank Herbert classic. Gurney was played by Patrick Stewart in David Lynch’s 1984 version.
Brolin joins a cast that includes Timothée Chalamet, Oscar Isaac, Zendaya, Javier Bardem, Stellan Skarsgård, Rebecca Ferguson, Charlotte Rampling, and Dave Bautista. Villeneuve is writing and directing the film, which like the source is set in the distant future, follows Paul Atreides, whose family assumes control of the desert planet Arrakis. As the only producer of a highly valuable resource, jurisdiction over Arrakis is contested among competing noble families. After Atreides is betrayed, he leads a rebellion to restore his family’s reign.
