According to The Hollywood Reporter, LeBron James is set to produce a new film in the House Party series. He will team with his SpringHill Entertainment partner Maverick Carter on the project, based on the Kid ‘n Play films from 1990, 1991 and 1994. That trilogy was released by New Line Cinema. The script for the reboot will be written by Stephen Glover and Jamal Olori.

James said: “This is definitely not a reboot. It’s an entirely new look for a classic movie. Everyone I grew up with loved House Party. To partner with this creative team to bring a new House Party to a new generation is unbelievable.

The soundtrack is expected to include a lot of big names, with Drake rumored, as he is working with Springhill on Top Boy and The Carter Effect.

Carter said: “We’re trying out some ideas for musicians to be cast in and to be a part of the project. There’s no plan for it now, but [James] a fantastic actor, and if he wants a role, Stephen will find a great role to put him in.

This will be SpringHill’s first narrative feature. Carter said that a proposed Space Jam remake is “a ways off.”
