Legion’s Noah Hawley to Write & Direct Next Star Trek Film

The next Star Trek film will be written and directed by a TV veteran in Legion and Fargo creator Noah Hawley. Deadline reports that Hawley is in final talks with Paramount Pictures to write and direct the film, which he will also produce through his 26 Keys production banner alongside JJ Abrams via Bad Robot.

Plot details are scarce on the film, but the understanding is that this will be the fourth film in the Chris Pine-led continuity of Star Trek and not a reboot. The Star Trek franchise has been in flux on the big screen as of late, with 2016’s Star Trek Beyond being the last entry. Quentin Tarantino has been working on an R-rated spinoff with JJ Abrams, which Deadline reports is still in the works and may be directed by Tarantino.
