AMC has found their rock star vampire, casting the role of Lestat de Lioncourt for their Interview With the Vampire series. AMC announced on Friday that Sam Reid (The Hunting, The Astronaut Wives Club) will play the role of Lestat in the eight-episode series that is set to arrive in 2022.

Lestat was famously played by Tom Cruise in Neil Jordan’s 1994 film, and is the vampire who turns the titular undead Louis (played by Brad Pitt in the film). The show is being written by Rolin Jones, who will showrun. Jones, Mark Johnson, Anne Rice, and Christopher Rice are executive producers for the series, which is described as follows:

“The story begins in the present day where centuries-old vampire Louis de Pointe du Lac narrates his life to a reporter, starting with when Lestat de Lioncourt turned him into a vampire before going into their life together.”

AMC acquired the rights to Rice’s Vampire Chronicles and Mayfair Witches properties and is reportedly set to develop multiple shows from the books.
