With Netflix’s Luke Cage having ended over two years ago, fans are curious on if we’ll see him pop up in an MCU project soon. But Mike Colter says there’s no current discussion toward that. Colter played the title role in the series, which was canceled after two seasons in October of 2018 amid all of Netflix’s Marvel shows getting the axe. Reports have said that the rights to the various characters would revert to Marvel two years after each show’s end, and there have even been (unsubstantiated) rumors that Charlie Cox will be appearing in the third Spider-Man film. However, speaking with CS.net promoting his new thriller Fatale, Colter said that at the moment there’s no news on whether Luke Cage will pop up in an MCU series or film.

“I got to say, I rarely think about it in the sense of what could be or will be,” Colter said. “I know fans are eager to see something with the character. I know I established him and it was an honor to do that, but I don’t know what the future holds, I’m just in my mode of doing Evil right now and a few films on hiatus. If something happens, I’d love to have a conversation with them, but for now I’m not holding my breath, I’m happy either way, it was a good run.”

Colter first appeared as Luke Cage in Jessica Jones before headlining his own solo series, which ran for two seasons. Creative differences and disagreements about the length of a potential third run were reportedly what led to the show’s demise.
