The Nun Opens #1 At Weekend Box Office

The Nun opened #1 at the box office this weekend, earning $131 million ($53.5 domestically and $77.5 internationally), setting a record for the Conjuring franchise. The previous record for the series was the first Conjuring film which opened to $41.8 million in July of 2013. The Conjuring 2 earned a total of $230 million, the high for the series.

Crazy Rich Asians dropped 38% to #2 with $13.6 million. The film has earned $136 million domestically, along with $28.5 internationally for a total of $164.7 million.

Peppermint opened at #3 with $13.263 million.

The Meg took the #4 spot with $6 million, boosting its domestic total to $131 million and its worldwide total to $492 million.
