Original Cast Returning For Beverly Hills 90210 Revival
Deadline reports that a revival of Beverly Hills 90210 is being shopped around to broadcast and streaming networks, with the original cast signed on to return. That includes Jennie Garth, Tori Spelling, Jason Priestley, Ian Ziering, Brian Austin Green and Gabrielle Carteris. It is said this will not be a “traditional reboot”. Writers Mike Chessler and Chris Alberghini will executive produce, along with Ghen Maynard.
Spelling revealed the news back in March that the show was in development in a post on Instagram. She said that she was working with Garth on a project related to the series, with a hashtag of #donnaandkellyforever. It was reported at the time that the two would play “exaggerated versions of themselves.” Nine months later, a TMZ photographer caught actors and writers between meetings.
The original series ran from 1990 to 2000 on FOX. It was created by Darren Star and produced by Aaron Spelling. IT follows the lives of students at West Beverly Hills High School. In addition to the cast members above, it also starred Shannen Doherty and Luke Perry. It was so popular that spinoffs were created, including Melrose Place and Models Inc. A reboot aired on the CW from 2008-2013 for five seasons. Spelling, Garth and Doherty reprised their roles during the first season.
