Oscar Producers Seeking to Reunite Avengers Cast For Ceremony
The Oscars are without a host, but they may have a superteam to the rescue in the Avengers. THR reports that producers for the Academy Awards are lining up a rotating cast of stars to introduce segments in lieu of a single host, and that they have reached out to as many members of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as possible for possible appearances.
The move comes after the Kevin Hart controversy left the show without a host Hart stepped down as host over an uproar about anti-LGBTQ tweets he’d made in the past.
According to the site, the show is hoping to pull in an even bigger number of MCU stars than 2013, which saw Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner/The Hulk), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) and Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) together onstage. The Academy has declined to comment on the report.
