Paramount Reportedly Developing Face/Off Reboot
If you think it’s been too long since our last nostalgia reboot, I’ve got good news for you: a Face/Off reboot is in the works. Deadline reports that Paramount Pictures is developing a reboot of the 1997 John Woo film, with Oren Uziel (22 Jump Street, Sonic the Hedgehog) writing the script. Neal Moritz will produce, David Permut executive producing.
The original film starred John Travolta and Nicolas Cage as Sean Archer and Castor Troy, an FBI agent the terrorist who murdered his son. After a confrontation where Castor is put into a coma, it’s learned that there’s a bomb set to go off in Los Angeles and Archer goes through an experimental treatment to have Castor’s face surgically implanted on his. Castor then comes out of the coma, forces the doctors to put Archer’s face on him, and begins a reign of terror under the guise of an FBI agent which forces the real Archer to try and stop him.
The film was a big hit at the time, grossing $245.7 million.
