Rose McGowen Slams Golden Globes Black Dress Movement as “Hollywood Fakery”
Rose McGowan took shots at the black dress movement that happened during Sunday’s Golden Globe awards, calling it an example of “Hollywood Fakery.” McGowan, who was one of the first people to come out and allege that Harvey Weinstein raped her, posted to Twitter slamming the statement, in which stars wore black as a statement against sexual misconduct in the industry.
The post was in response to a tweet by Asia Argento, who praised McGowan for taking a stand. You can see both posts below:
No one should forget that you were the first one who broke the silence. Anyone who tries to diminish your work is a troll and an enemy of the movement. You gave me the courage to speak out. I am on your side until I die.

And not one of those fancy people wearing black to honor our rapes would have lifted a finger had it not been so. I have no time for Hollywood fakery, but you I love, .@AsiaArgento #RoseArmy https://t.co/9e0938y5sI

McGowan previously criticized the planned protest, saying that Meryl Streep was being hypocritical for having worked with Weinstein. Streep has denied any knowledge of Weinstein’s misconduct.
