Ryan Reynolds isn’t sure if the previously-announced Clue remake he was set to star in is going to happen. As you may recall, it was reported in September of 2019 that Jason Bateman was set to direct a remake of the classic board game adaptation and would co-star with Reynolds in the film. However, Bateman had to back out and speaking with ComicBook.com, Reynolds says he’s not sure about the film’s future since that happened.

“I don’t know if we’re ever going to end up ever getting that made,” Reynolds said of the film. “It’s one of those things that in the shuffle of Disney acquiring Fox, I’m not sure we’ll ever get to, but we’ll see hopefully down the road. I love Jason Bateman, I couldn’t be a bigger Jason Bateman fan, so if it’s not this, it’ll be something else that we hopefully get to work on down the road.”

Clue first saw life as a film in 1985 as a dark comedy murder mystery with Tim Curry, Eileen Brennan, Madeline Kahn, Christopher Lloyd, Michael McKean, Martin Mull, and Lesley Ann Warren all starring as a butler of the mysterious Mr. Boddy and his dinner guests, which becomes a whodunit when Mr. Boddy is murdered. The film was not a hit but has since become a cult classic. There have been plans to develop a new film based on the game since 2011, but they have yet to come to fruition.
