The Wild Robot Director Says There Are Plans For a Sequel
The Wild Robot is getting a sequel, according to director Chris Sanders. Sanders revealed at Deadline Contenders (per Deadline that a sequel to the hit animated film is in development at DreamWorks Animation.
“100% yes,” Sanders said. “There are absolutely plans for a second one.”
The film was released on September 27th and has been a success for the studio, grossing $83.7 million domestically and $148.5 million worldwide against a $75 million budget with plenty of time left to go.

A robot—ROZZUM unit 7134, “Roz” for short—is shipwrecked on an uninhabited island and must learn to adapt to the harsh surroundings, gradually building relationships with the animals on the island and becoming the adoptive parent of an orphaned gosling.
